Our Story

I’m Jim McAleer, inventor and founder of the TrueGroove Swing Plane Trainer.

I have been an avid golfer for over thirty years.

From the beginning of my golf career, I always wanted to create a trainer that would teach a proper on-plane swing, delivered from the inside, which is essential for playing consistent golf. Various designs would come and go with varying degrees of success.

About three years ago, I fumbled my way into the beginnings of my current design. To start this development process, I had to learn how to weld light gauge Aluminum due to the multitude of ever evolving designs. This was a real challenge after 43 years running an office furniture store!

The design criteria became clear. It must be:

• Capable of training all aspects of the traditional golf swing: full swing, pitching, chipping, and putting.
• Easily adjustable for all swing planes.
• Use your own clubs, unlike other plane trainers that require special rollers or pipes.
• Continuous, smooth gliding surface with no joints from backswing through follow-through.
• Lightweight, portable, and durable.
• Totally weatherproof, suitable for all conditions.
• Affordable, shippable, and easy to assemble.

I firmly believe these criteria have been achieved.

Today, each TrueGroove trainer is expertly crafted to meet those exacting standards.
